Godavari Pushkaralu is one of the most sacred and grand spiritual gatherings in India, celebrated along the banks of the Godavari River, especially in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is often called the “Kumbh Mela of South India” because of its massive scale and deep religious significance.
🌟 Spiritual Significance
Pushkaralu is dedicated to the worship of rivers in Hindu tradition. According to belief, each major river is blessed by a specific planet once every 12 years. When Jupiter (Guru) enters the zodiac sign of Leo (Simha Rashi) for the Godavari River, the Pushkaralu festival begins.
During this period, the entire river is considered highly sacred, and taking a holy dip in the Godavari is believed to:
